NetChaser compatibility and WiFi Support

We endeavor to support as may Palm-Powered products with our software as possible. We adhere strictly to PalmOS programming guidelines to ensure our software works on as wide of range of software as possible.

NetChaser is a very custom application, and because of it's uniqueness it has an extremely limited range of hardware that can support it. NetChaser is only supported on Palm handhelds as follows:

The following handhelds are supported by NetChaser.

  • Palm TX
  • Palm LifeDrive
  • Palm Tungsten C

The following handhelds are supported, but require the Palm WiFi SDIO expansion card.

  • Palm Tungsten E2
  • Palm Tungsten T5
  • Palm Tungsten T3
  • Palm Zire 72

Q: The Tapwave Zodiac supports the PalmOne WiFi SD Card, will that work with NetChaser?
A: We have been told by our customers that this works with the latest drivers from Tapwave. We do not test with or support this configuration, but since users have reported success we are passing that information along to you.

Q: Does NetChaser support the Zire 71 with Sandisk WiFi SD Card?
A: No, that combination is not supported. Sandisk never made developer information availiable for their solution.

Q: Will the Enfora Wireless LAN Portfolio work with NetChaser?
A: No, the Enfora solution is not compatible with NetChaser, and likely never will be supported.

Q: Why doesn't NetChaser work on my Sony Clie (insert model here)?
A: We have made every attempt possible to support the Sony Clie devices with WiFi. Sony has blocked our attempts each time. We require certain information from Sony in order to support their proprietary implementation of WiFi and they have been completely unwilling to provide this information. Sony America contacted us about supporting their devices with NetChaser they even attempted to liaison with Sony Japan on our behalf. No one at Sony Japan would answer their emails or return their phone calls.

We cannot support Sony devices until such time as they deem fit to support developers. Recently Sony has discontinued all developer support and has announced that they will be creating no new PalmOS handhelds. It is likely that NetChaser will never support Sony devices.

Q: Why doesn't my Xircom WiFi sled work with NetChaser?
A: There is insufficient market demand to justify the work required. The Xircom sled was a limited production run that is not supported on any current production PalmOS handhelds.

Q: Why doesn't my Xircom WiFi Springboard work with NetChaser?
A: See above question about the Xircom WiFi sled.
